Musiq kicks off it’s fifteenth anniversary in 2019 with ‘A New To Blood Moon’, the first ever release from long-time friend and electronic pioneer, Bodycode aka Portable. The first in a series of collectable twelve-inches with accompanying artwork by Stefan Marx, this two-track release finds the South-African artist on dynamic and emotional form.
Collaborating on both sides with Niq. E, a new singer from Cape Town, a keen sense of catharsis and a dreamy, driving beat runs through the soft-centre of ‘Moving On’, which eases pleasingly into ‘The Way’, a busier, more vocal cut throughout which a similar sense of wistfulness is bolstered by acidic modulations and earnest house chords, rolling with restraint and class for over ten minutes.
Sophisticated deep house as only this pairing can deliver, ‘A New To Blood Moon’ is sophisticated and sensitive dance music guaranteed to win over hearts and minds.

#TBT: Portable - Believing (Khoikhoi) Dec. '18

South African producer Alan Abrahams aka Portable, has released the visuals for his latest single – Believing. The eponymous track from his upcoming EP, the video is shot between Paris & Seoul, and features work by renowned street artists Inti, Seth, and Connor Harrington, and architecture by Ricardo Bofills and Zaha Hadid.

Speaking of the video, Portable says that “the theme explored is building and architecture, and drawing parallels with building a vision and transformation through that. Which fits in perfectly with what I want to achieve with my new label and first release.”

Watch the video below, and catch the full EP on vinyl in stores now, and digitally next month.
