New EP: Skudge - X0X_01 (Skudge Rec.)

Three different takes from two different periods of time meet up in this acid focused 12”. The record features two Skudge originals from 2009, optimized into today’s standards. And also a classically trained Splice track, where a fierce drum pattern goes in parallel with the acidic bass line.

I wanted to do a mix like this for a very long time, it’s like it talks about most of my musical influences since I started to listen and collect music. That’s why you’ll find music from the Terminator soundtrack, Pink Floyd, Sonic Youth mixed with more “danceable” music by Jamal Moss or DJ Overdose. It’s like the soundtrack of my musical tastes, I did it thinking it was like a movie in my mind.

I grew up listening mostly to rock and house music. I’ve always lived in an area that doesn’t have a proper musical scene, so basically I’ve been inspired by everything that came from all over the world.

There were a lot of DJ sets recorded on cassette, shared from friends to friends during the late ’90s, and I listened to acid house on one of those cassettes for the first time. Then in ’99, I listened to Skunk Anansie for the first time and the 1st loop of Charlie Big Potato captured my attention and totally brought me into another dimension, so I started to listen to jungle and rave music.

You know that warm feeling of anticipation, standing on a platform waiting for the train to bring a loved one home to you? That’s what a new Tilliander record is like for Kontra-Musik. After releasing the monumental Chill Out album under Andreas’ Mokira moniker, we took a rather different approach this time, opting for the White Label. Even though the title ’Endor’ has nothing to do with the Ewok-inhabited Forest Moon in the Star Wars saga, it’s still a decisively green and verdant track, filled with all the sounds of a dense forest. ’Trico’ is the quiet lake deep within this forest; a serene spot inhabited with dragonflies, great white pelicans and slinky salamanders that curiously look a bit like Richie Hawtin during his Moby era. We simply love this place and hope that you will too.
